Beyond credibility, a GSTC-recognized certification translates into direct commercial visibility: Booking.com awards the “Travel Sustainable” badge and a dedicated search filter to properties with GSTC-recognized certifications—more than 100 million nights were booked at certified properties in 2025 alone—and Google Hotels displays the “eco-certified” label only for hotels certified by an accredited third party, with no option for self-declaration. In other words, without certification, your hotel or destination is excluded from these filters even if your operations are already sustainable.
